Our Team is made up of a dynamic group of volunteers with varying levels of experience and range of skills to better help you in your creative journey. Be it guiding you through the whole process or being there to bounce ideas off of. Our team strives to create a relaxing and welcome experience for anyone who step through the door.

Lisa Schokking

Volunteer and Operator of Stoney Studio

Runs weekday morning classes

"Pottery has been a creative outlet for me over a great many years. I have taken sculpting class at the Haliburton School Of Art and Design. Hand Building Classes for five years at Rosedale School for Arts. Hand building and wheel classes from The Gardiner Museum. Pottery has always been a lovely escape from everyday life. When I am in the studio, pottery becomes a meditation. I really enjoy sharing the joy of clay work with others. Small classes provide such a lovely atmosphere for coming back to the artist in all of us. Students at first are rather tentative, then over time their creative spirit takes over and smiles and excitement fills the class. We form friendships and feel good about helping The YES shelter do their very important work."

"I have always been a lover of the arts but searching for the right studio to be a part of. I found most places to either be too elitist or just simply too expensive it never made sense as a student or recent graduate. With the Stoney Studios however I have found a place not only affordable and open to anyone no matter how much experience you have but also a way to support a great cause. My background is a mixed bag of tricks I like to say having studied general arts in both high school and university before bridging over to special event management. Through my time in the arts I specialized in painting, ceramic wheel, and print making. Mostly I just love to get my hands dirty and create and help others to experience the freedom it brings and calming nature to an otherwise busy life.

Taylor Kosloff

Runs Monday evening classes

"From casual costume and prop making to creative writing I've spent many years with my hands in as many pots as possible. Art in all of its forms has always been a way for me to escape from the doldrums of daily life and come alive in a place where you can make and be anything imaginable with a little bit of practice.

Though I've only whet my hands on the basics myself, I hope we can collaborate together to create an environment where we can all learn without judgement, share some creativity, and not be afraid to get down to it and try something new. I hope we can all have a blast as we get our hands dirty for a good cause; supporting the YES Shelter as they provide emergency aid to youth and families in the Toronto area."

"I recently rekindled a distant past love of pottery this winter at Stoney Studios. Now I have decided to take a roll in facilitating the Saturday morning clay class. Saturday mornings are a great class for beginners or seasoned potters."
